Devgen, a biotech company developing and commercializing hybrid seeds en crop protection solutions, helps farmers meet the productivity increases needed to grow more food on less land using less water, labor and agrochemicals. By developing the next generation of hybrid rice seeds, the company is shaping the field of hybrid rice in India and Southeast Asia. In addition, Devgen strengthens its market access in India where it produces and sells premium seeds in three strategic crops that are seasonally and geographically complementary to rice: sorghum, pearl millet and sunflower. Incorporated in 1997, Devgen has offices in Ghent (Belgium), and has subsidiaries in Singapore, Hyderabad (India), Yogyakarta (Indonesia), General Santos (the Philippines) and Delaware (US), totaling over 250 staff. Devgen was successfully listed on Euronext Brussels in 2005. In 2011, Devgen raised its capital through a private placement with investors such as Gimv and Gimv-managed funds.
