Board of directors

Herman Daems is Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is an associate professor in Strategic Management at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). He was a visiting professor at Harvard Business School and has been Chairman of the European Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EVCA).

Currently, Herman Daems is a director of CoWare, Domo Chemicals, Vanbreda Risk & Benefits and Efico, chairman of the Board of Directors of Barco and of IPEV, an international consultation body that defines valuation standards for Private Equity and Venture Capital. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (VBO-FEB).

Herman Daems has served on the Gimv board since 1999. 

Koen Dejonckheere was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gimv in 2008. Before, he was Managing Director and head of Corporate Finance at KBC Securities, where he made major contributions to the European expansion of the corporate finance activities.

Previously, Koen Dejonckheere worked for Nesbic, Halder, Price Waterhouse Corporate Finance Europe and the former BBL, now ING. Koen Dejonckheere has extensive experience as a dealmaker in investment banking and private equity in Belgium and abroad. In recent years, he has become one of the authorities amongst Belgian investment bankers.

Koen Dejonckheere holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ghent and an MBA from IEFSI in Lille (France).

Leo Victor has been Managing Director of the Liaison Committee Flanders-Europe since 2006. Previously, he was General Secretary of the General Affairs Department of the Ministry of the Flemish Community.

He has been Vice-Chairman of the Board of Gimv since it was founded in 1980.

Zeger Collier has had a varied career in the banking sector. He gained valuable experience working in a variety of positions at Kredietbank, Paribas-Artesia, Dexia and most recently Delta Lloyd Bank. He acquired in-depth banking knowledge and skills in private banking, back office operations, front office risk management and banking project management (including cost saving programmes, process re-engineering, IT projects).

Currently, Zeger Collier is heading the Back Office Securities at Delta Lloyd Bank Belgium. He has been a Gimv board member since April 2004.

Greet De Leenheer has over 25 years’ experience as a strategic media consultant, working for various foreign groups. She is a co-founder of Vitaya TV.

She is a board member of Plan Belgium and independent director of Cultuur-Invest. She has been a Gimv board member since 2004.

Eddy Geysen was Vice President of General Motors Europe until 2004. He is a member of the Adam Opel GmbH supervisory board and of the Boards of Directors of Agoria (the multisectoral federation for the technology industry), Punch International, Flanders Drive and Conteyor NV.

He has been an independent board member of Gimv since 2005.

Jan Kerremans is chef de cabinet to the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs.

He has been a Gimv board member since 2005. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Infrabel NV.

Frank Meysman is CEO of the Belgian Advertising Standards Board, former chairman of the board of Sara Lee-Douwe Egberts and Executive Vice-President of the Sara Lee Corporation. He is a board member of Picanol, Spadel, WDP, Festival van Vlaanderen and Grontmij.

He has been an independent director of Gimv since 1998. He is the chairman of the remuneration committee.

Martine Reynaers is General Manager and Managing Director of Reynaers Aluminium NV, a leading European company in quality aluminium systems for the building industry.

She has been a board member of Gimv since 1999. She is also a board member of the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (VBO-FEB) and a director of Flanders Investment and Trade.

Eric Spiessens is a member of the Executive Committee of the Arco Group, a holding company of the cooperative movement that operates mainly in banking and insurance, utilities and medicines distribution.

He has been a Gimv board member since 1999. He is also a board member of the various Arco companies and of several companies in which the Arco Group has shareholdings.

Marc Stordiau is Managing Director of the port engineering and investment firm Rent-A-Port. Until July 2006, he was CEO at DEME, a world-class player in dredging and marine engineering, where he still is a director. Prior to that, he managed major construction projects for CFE in black Africa.

He is a director of the Middle East Dredging Company (MEDCO) in Doha (Qatar) and of International Seaport Dredging (I.S.D.) in Chennai (India). He has been a board member of Gimv since 1993.

Emile van der Burg has been Managing Partner of NIB Capital Private Equity and Chairman of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA). He is a member of the investment committee of several internationally operating private equity funds and Senior Advisor of Sal. Oppenheim Private Equity Partners.

He has been an independent board member of Gimv since 2005.
