BMC Groep poised to enter new markets

" With Gimv as a shareholder, BMC is poised to enter new markets in the near future."

In the Netherlands, the public sector has relied on outsourced professional services for a long time. The market is continuing to grow as the central government transfers an increasing number of tasks to the country’s 458 municipalities, creating new opportunities for public-private-partnerships. In 1986, Jan de Vries, the company’s founder set up advisory services for the public sector. In 1996, after several years under the umbrella of Deloitte, these activities were gathered in BMC, as a result of a management buyout. BMC focuses on three areas: policy development, project implementation/support and part-time personnel, all supported by executive search and marketed under a specific brand. Today, BMC employs more than 1,500 employees and is the leader in its field.

In 2007, Gimv acquired a 30% stake in BMC, creating an opportunity for broader management participation in the firm’s capital. Inclusion of the current middle-management team has been identified as an important step towards controlled succession. Potential ownership is also instrumental in attracting new consultants. Extending the existing capacity is a key factor for further expansion of the company’s customer base. While municipalities are the major client group today, BMC is poised to enter new markets, like the public health sector, in the near future.
