De Groot International is bound for further growth

" De Groot chose Gimv as their partner to build the financial platform for future growth."

Enterprising families have always built successful businesses by fulfilling market needs and responding to change. De Groot International is a case in point. In 1954, De Groot, a fruit and vegetable retail business was established. Marius De Groot took the firm into wholesaling when the retail market started to consolidate in the eighties. The company’s international expansion started around the same period.

The family and management team chose Gimv as their partner to build the financial platform for future growth. In 2004, Gimv took a 55% stake in the company, with the management team - including Marius De Groot’s sons - holding the remainder.

Based on strong international relationships with growers, state-of-the-art storage and ripening facilities and its own fleet of trucks, De Groot pursues the ambition of becoming the preferred provider for a large number of retail chains in the Netherlands and abroad.
