Through various acquisitions and continuous innovation, Metris has grown enormously in recent years. Founded in 1995 as a spin-off of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Metris is a world class supplier of total 3D quality inspection solutions for the automotive and aerospace industries. Metris supplies both traditional coordinate measurement machinery and innovative optimal measuring systems. Metris solutions provide high-accuracy 3D measurement of complete vehicles (cars, aircraft, trains, ships) and of individual components, to guarantee perfect assembly.
GIMV invested at an early stage in 2000 and since then led all fundraisings from a financial and process point of view. Gimv acted as a key driver in setting up more professional reporting & corporate governance, attracting independent board members and recruiting senior managers.
In 2006, Metris was crowned with the prestigious Belgian Enterprise of the Year-award, hailed by the jury for its “unflagging inventive dynamism, its original strategic development and the application of good corporate governance”. Shortly afterwards, the company was successfully brought to the stock market (Euronext).
