Berlin-based EdTech company continues its growth trajectory and enters the French education market.

Berlin, 17 February 2026 – sofatutor, one of the most comprehensive teaching and learning platforms in the German-speaking world, announces the full acquisition of the French company SchoolMouv. The plan is to work closely together, with both companies pooling their resources, technology and market expertise to further accelerate SchoolMouv’s growth in France and jointly establish a European market leader.

SchoolMouv offers an online learning platform tailored to the French curriculum, featuring videos, structured courses, interactive quizzes, a flashcard product and AI-powered generation of learning content. Similar to sofatutor, the business model encompasses both B2C subscriptions and B2B sales. Founded in 2013 and employing around 40 people, the company will continue to operate as an independent brand with its own management.

“This first acquisition marks another significant milestone in our company’s history,” says Colin Schlüter, CEO and Managing Director of sofatutor. “We are evolving from one of the leading providers in the German-speaking world into a European education company. With an innovative and comprehensive online learning product for the French market, SchoolMouv complements our existing product portfolio, which includes the sofatutor.com learning platform for school pupils and the sofatutor KIDS early-learning app for children aged 2 to 6.”

With more than 2 million users, around 7,000 educational videos, over 200,000 interactive exercises and AI features for pupils and teachers across all year groups, sofatutor is one of the most comprehensive online teaching and learning platforms in the German-speaking world. Through the acquisition of SchoolMouv, the company is strengthening its position as one of the leading providers of digital teaching and learning content and is expanding further in the European K-12 market. With this move into France, sofatutor is sending a clear signal for European educational innovation in an environment characterised by a shortage of teachers, increasing diversity and a growing need for effective digitalisation.

sofatutor was advised on the transaction by Aramis and LARK (Legal) as well as Forvis Mazars (Finance, Tax, Legal).
