When ambition meets ambition
The need to expand and strengthen the infrastructure for energy, water and telecom is a crucial link in the energy transition. Figures show that by 2050, one in three roads in the Netherlands will have to be demolished to accommodate the switch to a sustainable energy system. Also, the ever-increasing demand for faster Internet means that many households will be connected to the glass fibre network. Such complex infrastructure works require partners who can guarantee quality, safety, continuity and high flexibility in the planning and execution of large assignments. The sister companies Baas and Verkley, with a combined workforce of around 750 permanent staff and around 350 flex-workers, can respond quickly and flexibly to the substantial projects of their customers.

Following the investment in Verkley announced in April 2021, Gimv acquired the Baas Group in December. This creates a strong, national alliance of companies active in the design, construction and maintenance of essential infrastructure for energy, water and telecoms. In recent years Baas has invested heavily in the design of energy networks, sustainable heat networks, charging stations and battery storage.
